  • What to wear to a Broadway show?

DH and I are going to NYC this weekend and got last-minute tickets to see "Book of Mormon" on Saturday afternoon (2:00pm show). We have no idea how to dress!! Casual? Dressy? Please help!!!

I am so jealous! I defer to those with a fashion sense re: wardrobe. Have fun!

Perfect, thanks LSW! The subject matter and the fact that it's a 2:00 show made me think more casual, but I didn't want to be way underdressed. We are so excited!!!

We were just there and went to two evening shows (on week nights) and what people wore ran the gamut from shorts/t-shirts to extremely formal. What LSW said sounds exactly right to me. Have fun!

I'm so jealous! Last time we were in NYC, we saw "Phantom", "Sweet Charity", and "Avenue Q" and people were wearing EVERYTHING. You'd honestly be fine in whatever. I tend to dress up a little, just because growing up if we were going to a show, we wore "church" clothes.

Both times I went was evening. I wore a dress once then nice jeans and a sweater. It is amazing!!! I have the soundtrack and listen to it weekly!!

Sundress and strappy sandals with a lightweight cardigan might be good as it's hot out but will be cool in the theater. Have fun!

I was just there at the end of July. I wore a sundress or nice skirt and top for all four shows (three nights, one matinee). I needed a little cardigan for a few of the shows, but for others I was perfectly fine with out. I was expecting it to be much colder in the theater or maybe I just never thawed out from the heat outside. We did not splurge on Book of Morman tickets. SO jealous.

Come back and tell me what you think of Book of Mormon! I honestly was kind of disappointed. I thought I'd like it way more than I did.

I haven't been to a show in years, but I like to wear a casual dress and bring a sweater or light coat because I *always* freeze inside. :/
