  • Wearable Fall Trends?

Now that I'm finally getting skinny (thankyouthankyouthankyouFINALLY!), I'm starting to pay more attention to how I dress.

What are the most wearable trends for fall? I'm seeing colored jeans everywhere, but it feels silly because I wore those in college 20 years ago. Same with skinny jeans, but that was 25 years ago in high school. At the same time, I definitely do not want to look like a stodgy 40 yr old. I want to look good without looking like an idiot.

Heh, thanks! Surprisingly, it wasn't having kids that put on weight, it was building this (#@&)! house. I BALLOONED. Ugh.

Woohoo! Way to go! I'll be curious what others say. I'd love a pair of colored jeans, but they just don't seem practical (probably because I don't know how to put together an outfit).

I know that there are rules about not wearing something again if you were the exact right age for it the first time around but, fashions cycle and they are not exactly the same the second time around. Also, people of different ages will not wear the same trend the same way. For instance, neon. I was about 12 the last time neon was a big trend and I wore it from head to toe. Seriously, I looked like a traffic hazard. This time around, at 37, I'm more likely to wear a neon belt, bangle, or bag with an otherwise neutral outfit.

Congrats on the weight loss! I love boots and textures for fall fashion. Patterned/textured tights, blazers, knee high boots, etc. I also like sweaters and cardigans with embellishment, which are supposed to be big this season. Totally agree with you about colored jeans...I think I'd feel silly in them but then again, I gravitate towards traditional bootcut dark denim, so they're way out of my comfort zone.

Go Chris! I just got some equestrian Frye boots for the fall to wear over jeans. All though I guess they're not really considered a trend...

My "colored" jeans consist of khaki and black - I really tried to get a red pair or a blue pair for our Ireland trip but just couldn't bring myself to buy them once I tried them on! This fall I'm going with jeans and more tunic length tops and sweaters, since jeans are fitting tighter across the rear I'd rather my tush be covered. I'm still on the hunt for a pair of tall boots but I am getting some this year!

I think MrsK is right about a style coming back around and having to do it "less" so that you don't look like you're kidding yourself. I just got a pair of skinny, dark purple Not Your Daughter's Jeans. They actually look fairly neutral, for a color, and have a different finish on them. Definitely a little more grown up version of the colored jean, and they're figure flattering. I'm going to let the fashionistas chime in for the rest.

I surprised myself with skinny jeans and found a pair that actually look pretty good. I had been convinced they'd look totally ridiculous on me. Of course, that trend's what, three years old now?

I just want to know if I can still wear my maxi-skirts in the fall and winter.

Deep yellow seems to be very popular. Also chevron stripes r everywhere.
But wine is going to be my go to fall color. I just love it, so deep and rich!
