The PNW is super casual, I would have to disagree with Cinderella. A friend of mine who is originally from Boston bought a trench coat to wear over his suit (he's an attorney), and everyone laughed at him when he showed up to work, because in Seattle, attorneys/business people wear Northface jackets at most. And no ties in the hospital! That is far different than my experience in Chicago, where people wore ties and were called Dr. so and so. Here it's all first names, including when residents address attendings.

Fleece is dressy in Seattle.

I've been to weddings where polo shirts and khakis were acceptable. I'll even admit that I've seen jeans at a couple. The north is not necessarily dressy! It's all about who is getting married at which venue.

Yup! I've been to a wedding where the bride wore a white cover-up over her bathing suit so she could swim in her parents' above-ground pool after the vows...(football cupcakes from the grocery store were also served at this wedding, and LSW - I wish I saved this invite )

Saturday morning fashion show, wherein we establish that I have a thing for floral print dresses, which I imagine some of you will not approve of.

The black/sparkle is what I'm wearing to the wedding. The others are contenders for the luncheon and rehearsal dinner. Any favorites? If I buy a new dress today, it will definitely be a solid color, haha.

#2 would probably be my pick for the luncheon. The cut of #3 is very flattering on you and would be my second pick for luncheon or bridal shower (if you still need something for the bridal shower)

#4 would also be my pick for the rehearsal dinner

Okay. I've had a glass of champagne so I'm going to do my best to be tactful but consider this your disclaimer!!!! LOL!

Dresses 1 to 5 in order of their published appearance:
1. Throw this away. It's all sorts of unflattering in more ways than a tailor could fix. I hope a beloved dying relative did not buy this for you.

I bought this in Brazil. A long time ago. I won't defend it.

2. I'm okay with this one for a daytime luncheon. I'd wear it during the DAY. Not for an evening thing. Wear it with a simple nude heel, some drop earrings and a bracelet. A cocktail/decorative ring if you have one and you're set.
3. The cut is nice but I can't get past the print. Take it up an inch or two so that it is the proper length for your bod and I would let you keep it.

I WILL defend this print, which my husband doesn't like either. I dunno, I just rather like it.

4. Of the options, I would take this for the rehearsal dinner. Black heels, hair up, 1" or so drop earring, bracelet, clutch purse and you're good to go.
5. This is too long. I'd write more but DH is clamoring to get going (we're heading to the casino for Bingo After Dark, hence the pre-boozing lol).

Maybe I need to write about length. Hmm.

I'm wondering if the angle of these photos is making my dresses look longer than they are. I'm so surprised about this comment.

I bought what I think will be a better rehearsal dinner dress yesterday, though I doubt I'll have time to photo it. I do appreciate the honest feedback.

I'm just over 5'6". I think I'm close on length with most of these, but I'll look into it. My dry cleaner has done a good job with tailoring in the past.

So here is the deal with dress length: Dresses are made for a variety of people with similar horizontal measurements (bust/waist/hips). They are made long - they are made generally for someone 5'10" to wear. If you are shorter than that you likely need to have it taken up depending on how long waisted you are and how tall you are. That impacts where it hits on your leg.

Nearly all dresses should hit right at the indent on your knee. Look at your leg and you know where your calf starts to move in toward the knee? That indent, the thinnest part of your knee, is what I mean.

I get EVERYTHING tailored being only 5'0''. I am wondering though, if some styles don't look better slightly above the knee? Teach me.

T&S, I'm short too so I'm with you on the tailoring. I like everything to hit above the knee because my torso is really long and I look like I'm drowning in my clothes if I don't. Think it depends on everyone's body type?
