Is anyone going to get an iphone 5? The camera is supposed to be good. I am thinking of getting one as I still have the iphone 3. My current phone serves me well except the battery life is nill and the camera is terrible. My DSL camera is broken and I lost the charger to my point-and-shoot camera so it kind of makes sense rather than buying another camera. Plus, my daughter is begging for an ipod touch. I could give her this one rather than risk her breaking a new ipod touch. Still, spending money on purchases like this make me cringe.

We're doing it. We have the 4 - got it right before they released the 4S or whatever. We're also switching carriers. AT&T can suck it. we figure if we're going to buy a new phone, may as well buy a NEW phone...
I'm most excited to have Siri, although all the other new features are fun, too. DD has one of those iPod holders, so my old phone will be exclusively running Fisher-Price for a while!

Even if you keep the same plan? I'm stuck with AT&T forever because of unlimited data, but I can get a new phone whenever and not lose it. DH actually switched to Verizon and I kept AT&T for that reason (although it comes in handy places where it's hard to find a signal - one of us always has one).-Deb
Wife to EP, just trying to keep up with my FOUR busy kids!

We actually left AT&T for a bit 4th year because of reception issues - DH needed to be alike to respond to residency interview offers ASAP. By the time we switched back, bye-bye unlimited data

scrub-jay have you looked at how much you really use? I went into Verizon a few weeks ago to get a phone for our trip and they tried to switch me so I came home and looked and looked at how much we have used over the last several months and sure enough switching away from an unlimited plan ends up saving us money and we have never come anywhere close to using the data that the new plan covers.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

I'm with Scrub Jay. Our data usage is right on the border of costing us a lot more and DH is a data hog. No real access to wifi during the day for either of us too.
Frankly I'm not impressed with the new iPhone anyway. The only thing it would really buy me is the ability to use FaceTime and talk to N that way during the day. And I'm sure thinly reason that is an option now is because they can charge you for the data usage.
Frankly Apple and Verizon can get bent until I absolutely need to upgrade. I'm happy with my 4 for now. I suspect more people will not be upgrading for similar reasons and I hope Apple and the carriers feel it.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
