  • I'm hopeless

It's time again for the annual black tie event that I never know how to dress for. Always so many fancy real doctor's wives there lookin so classy. I always feel like a 12 year old wearing my grandma's dress. I bought this one today because it was on the sale rack and well...it fit. I think I like it. Anyway, what shoes would you wear? Accessories? Does it look too...mature? I really can't wear anything clingy or tight, my bod just isn't up for it. lol any advice would be very very very much appreciated.

This. I think it looks really nice (and wish they had it in my size, at that price!), but I'm SO not the person to say whether it's actually fashionable or age-appropriate or not!

Well it makes me feel better than you guys like it. I guess since it's long and black I probably can't go TOO wrong with black heals... And I'll just throw on every piece of jewelry I own. SOMETHING I pick will have to be the right thing.

Pretty! Can't go wrong with black. Are you a statement or dainty jewelry person? If the former then how about a statement cuff? With a red lip?

Very cute! I guess I would go with statement jewelry with a dress like that, but I think like Curegirl said the jewelry is down to personal preference. As for shoes... how long is the dress? where does the hem hit?

The hem hits about 3 inches below my feet. lol! I think i'll probably have to have it shortened a bit. depending on the shoes i guess?

Oh wow, I'd just go with 3 1/2 inch heels!! I understand if that doesn't work for you though! Maybe something strappy like this? http://www.zappos.com/rsvp-emery-black

I guess I'll be the voice of discontent, because it does look a bit matronly and mother-of-the-bride to me, especially with pearls. What about something like this instead, http://www.vonmaur.com/Product.aspx?...52&Sale=y&pg=1 ?

I'm with Vishinka on this one. (I didn't want to say before because I was waiting for the true fashionistas to chime in.) Vishinka's pick is absolutely drool worthy.

I do like that one, but I'm not back in a body that can bare that much yet. ugh. it's so hard to find something flattering inexpensive and not old lady.

I'm checking rent the runway...whatever it is has to have a lot of material on the bottom half.

I like the pink gown! The thing about Rent the Runway is if you are like me you have no idea what is going to look good until you try it, and is t it too late at that point? Or do they let you return it?

I'm a sucker for classic stuff which is why I think the first one is okay. I imagined you with a Breakfast at Tiffany's look
