I don't think we have a Saks and I'm positive we don't have a L&T. Our Macy's are also hit and miss though I think there is one which is supposed to be nicer. Maybe we can find a weekend day where the ILs will babysit and DH and I can go shop for me and get his tux. I don't want to pick something out myself with only sales lady opinion.

Tell us when you're going and upload photos of all the options. Go get yourself and coffee while the responses roll in and then purchase. Living vicariously through those who have an occasion to shop sounds fun!! Right now my shopping is limited to the Carter's outlet if DD has outgrown something...

And now we have an ENT gala to go to on 11-2, looks like I'll be needing TWO dresses, UGH!'

This is very Donna Reed of me but I'd just wear the same dress to both events.

Have you checked out Rent the Runway? I can't recall if they offer petite dresses or not, but they have a huge selection and you can order two sizes for no extra cost.

I also like the more colorful options. You look great in color, and since practically everyone else will be in black you will stand out!

Unfortunately a HUGE number, or at least the important people, will be at both.

I know but so what? Your hubby will be wearing the same tux, lol! I guess the plus of buying two dressing is that you can rotate them next year.

I'm in love with the Raspberry dress at the top of your list and the third one on your list the Adrianna Papell Beaded One Shoulder Gown in Charcoal. Those two are stunning to me.

Since you'll only be wearing it once and will need a new one the following year, why not just do RTR? They have an option of ordering a second dress for only $25 more, just in case you're worried that the first one won't fit right.

I have the hardest time finding floor-length gowns for me height (same as yours) and always do a cocktail length even for black-tie. Hasn't been a problem so far. As long as the dress is fancy enough, the length didn't seem to matter. I have some options in size 4 that I can send.

I now only use RTR for special events. I already have too many clothes and would never wear the dress more than once, so it's really my favorite option.

For the second dress I would invest in something black that you can change with shoes, and accessories! I'd buy a timeless cut that fits you perfectly without sparkles. I bought one from Nordstroms (Classique) eight years ago and I STILL wear it.

RTR has NEVER worked for me. I've tried it twice and the fit has been awful both times even following the fit guides to the letter.

I bought a black strapless cocktail style for the November gala today, it was a great deal so we'll see. For the more formal occasion I will not be comfortable in strapless so I still need to do some investigating on that one. The wife I had coffee with yesterday who I thought had been to one has not so she also does not know what to wear. I think I will ask at book club next week, there are lots of women there that have been and they will know if it has to be long or if short is acceptable.

Ok, so I found a dress for event #2 - black tie optional so DH will wear his suit. It is strapless but it fits well.

                                I need accessories though...
