  • Everyday Make-up

I know we have talked about this before but let's rehash it. I have used Mary Kay for YEARS because my sister sells it, its easy, blah blah blah but now I'm getting old (ack!) and I need easy, well covered every day make-up that I can get in the midwest. I'd like to be able to try it before I buy it so probably something at a make-up counter.

I have an oily T-zone but otherwise normal skin, I have a ginormous forehead that I have tried, unsuccessfully, to cover with cute hair styles over the years so I just need to live with it not shining.

I've tried the mineral powders and have never found the right color or coverage...

    HELP!

I've been using Make Up Forever HD foundation which I apply with a airbrush foundation brush. (Who knew?!?! I watched a tutorial on youtube.) It really gives a near flawless finish, though it doesn't really look matte. You'd have to finish with a powder. I still use bare escentuals mineral veil. MUFE Mat Velvet works really well also and does give a matte finish, though it can be a little drying.

I just ordered a PMD personal microdermabrasion tool. I'm hoping it can get rid of the little sunspots I have on the left side of my face from driving so much! Years of sunscreen haven't helped in that regard.

I like Bare Escentuals. But I don't wear makeup most days. LOL.

Same here, until I started back at school. Then I committed to dressing nice, doing my hair, and wearing makeup and jewelry everyday. That lasted about a month, lol. Now it's just foundation and mascara so I don't scare anyone.

Same here. Do you have an Ulta or Sephora where you can try different brands?

Yes I do have a Sephora, I think I also have an Ulta but its further away. I'll have to add it to my list of things to do on Mondays when I have no kids.

I wear make-up EVERY DAY - after I had A I made myself a promise that I would put my make-up on and a pair of pants with a waistband. It makes me feel human even though I spend my days with toddlers.

I like this. I need to start doing my hair again everyday. It is true that you feel much better about everything else when you feel good about yourself!

I'm also super oily and I tame it with MAC blot powder and Shiseido blotting sheets. I second the Sephora idea and hope you find something that works for you!

I use Bare Escentuals, and love it. It's probably lighter than what you're looking for though.

Daily makeup just needs to be a tinted moisturizer w/spf, mascara & tinted lipgloss. SS just keep rice papers in your purse to blot your T-zone& forehead. If you are oily skinned & want a matter finish then go w/a powder foundation but use a brush. There are even products that can be used as tinted lip gloss& cheek color.
Save the major stuff for date night& special events. I used to work for Clarins, Bobbi Brown& Merle Norman.

Bobbi Brown was my favorite (and still is) until I decided to switch to a more natural daily makeup. I've been using Coastal Classic Creations for a few months and I like it. But it's not a lot of coverage.

                      Try Skin by Bobbi Brown.

I second Bobbi Brown and also love Mac. I went to Ulta a few weeks ago for my daily makeup and got a BB cream by Tarte, lip stain that lasts all day, lip gloss, and I had mascara and blush. This was all with help from someone who worked there, and I had two kids with me, but they worked with me jumping up and down and generally being a mommy. I am going to make a visit to Mac in a couple of weeks to get a new foundation, eyeliner, and some night eye makeup ideas.

"I don't always wear makeup, but when I do..." (I use Clinique) It's usually this combo:
                          Powder
                          Mascara
                          Eye liner
Burt's Bees Chapstick, or a lip gloss color by Clinique that I love.

If I have more time, I add blush, eye shadow, eyebrow pen, and lipstick.

I don't think I have done evening makeup in over a year.

I like pur minerals pressed powders. But if mineral makeup doesn't work for you...

I know bare esscentuals has most of the mineral market but I use pur minerals because they don't have some of the crap in them other brands do

I like Clinique SuperPowder for everyday... just a bit more pigment than a typical powder. If you need a lot of coverage, you can use it as a finishing powder on top of foundation or concealer, but if you just need a little it works well on its own. Gets VERY matte if you use too much though. I prefer using a brush instead of the sponge so I don't pile it on too much. Then I typically finish up with a little blush and one coat of mascara.
