Need cute boots to wear with sweater dress/skirt

I just bought this sweater dress

in the charcoal heather color, and now I'm looking for cute ankle boots to go with it. I ordered one pair to try on but they're huge around my ankles, and now I'm wondering if maybe that's how they're supposed to look? Shouldn't they be snug around my ankles? I measured my ankle and it's 8 inches around, the boots I've been looking at online are all like 11-inch circumferences and even bigger! My legs look ridiculous, like they're swimming in these boots.

So, I guess my question is: are they supposed to be loose around the ankles? If not, how do I find boots with a smaller shaft? I've spend the last couple of HOURS online looking, but can't find any!

Have you checked Zappos? You can usually shop by the opening size for boots.

I have a pair of Eccos that I love. I wear them with jeans but can spend the day at the mall in them. They are comfy and I can chase kids in them. I have no dress/boot fashion sense...but they look like these. http://m.zappos.com/ecco-sculptured-65-mid-bootie-black. Mine have a button decoration on the outsides.
