My sister is one of 3 in her husband's family - seriously! One is her husband's sister so she is now married and has a different last name but the youngest brother just announced his engagement and she has the same name as my sister so they will have the same first and last name. Crazy!

SIL sounds like an a-hole. Seriously, who the eff cares that you have the same name and she was first?! (I'm assuming she was being snarky about it...) I think a more proper introduction would have been "Hi, I'm Ashley and am delighted to meet you! I can't wait to get to know you better." Sheesh. I don't get people who are crazy right out of the starting gate.
