  • Prepaid phones?

I want to give my mil a cell phone to use while she's taking care of our dd for a couple of days. She's got her own, but I don't want her to have to pay for roaming charges, and sending and receiving texts is expensive for her and us from an international number.

I thought I'd ask here in case any of you have bought phones for your kids. Or are prepaid phones a thing of the past? .

Best Buy has phones and amazon does as well. Where have you bought yours...?

BIL had one from Walmart. Worked fine. It was a Blackberry-type (I know nothing about non-iPhone stuff!)

Yeah, I'm guessing they're all sort of the same... I think I found an AT&T prepaid phone for $9.99 and we pay by the day. $2 (with all sorts of fees probably) per day on the days you use it, and it includes texting and unlimited voice.

I really would like to find a pay as you go phone for DS. He is not old enough to warrant having his own cell phone, but I kinda want to be able to get a hold of him when he is out playing with friends and the like.
