Nope, never had contacts and never really plan to. I am still in denial that I even "need" the glasses even though my night vision is atrocious, I can't see road signs until it's too late, and I can't read anything without fuzziness and eyestrain. >.<

I tried on a few pairs and found that I could get used to plastic frames. There were a couple of Kate Spade ones I liked, but OMG sticker shock; there were cheaper ones but they didn't blow me out of the water for still costing over $150 with lenses. So I just took my prescription and came home. I'll either call them back and order or else get something online.

I like librarian glasses with tortoise shell...never thought I'd be able to pull them off but the guy at the store insisted and I've never looked back. Hope you get a good pair that suit your needs and look great. Mine are DKNY and were on sale but I paid a lot for the lenses because I didn't want to scrimp on my eyes!

I think the ones I like could be considered librarian-ish. I'm strongly considering that Warby Parker site. There are several frames I like, it's nice to see the total price including anti-glare lenses and free shipping, and I am really down with the Home Try-On program. DH recommends eyebuydirect.com but it's overwhelming me, with not even photos of the frames on faces. :\

These are a lot like the ones I was gravitating to at the store: http://www.warbyparker.com/women/opt...ed-evergreen-f

Alison, I like those! My SO has a similar pair and gets complimented on them all the time.

I'm just finalizing my choice of 5. I'm kind of thrilled about this option...I hate trying on in public, and this will let me look at them on me with different hairstyles, in different lights. Woot!

Love those, like Zooey Deschanel in NG or the ones Kristen Stewart wore at the airport. Mine are black plastic rectangular Gucci but I've had them for like 6 years. I wish I could get some like KS but my prescription hasn't changed and i mostly wear them at home. When I had a job I would only wear them on librarian in stiletto days with my garters and thigh highs :P hmmm I should wear that around the house...

Do it! My SO wants to pounce whenever I have my glasses on, which is weird because usually I'm wearing flannel pjs but whatever floats his boat, I guess.

I really like my ProDesign|Denmark frames. They've held up really well and weren't crazy expensive. Lots of trendy and/or classic styles, too.

I had "half rims" in metal until 3 years ago, then went with plastic frames that were on sale (D&G).

My rx changed, so I got another plastic pair (Converse) that are similar to the old ones in color, but have a different frame shape.

I ordered them. *gulp* I got these: http://www.warbyparker.com/women/opt...amber-tortoise

I think the Zooey Deschanel comment helped push me into embracing the plastic frame look, because she rocks the tortoiseshells I saw on Google image search. That, and DD you look awesome in your FB profile pic. DH helped me decide among my five try-on pairs, and after his first rude remarks about how nerdish they looked, he was quite useful in his feedback. I think I'm going to like them! Now I just have to scan in my prescription and I'm good to go...

Looove them! Zooey is my girl crush. Loved 500 Days of Summer.

Tom: I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps.

Tom: I hate her crooked teeth. I hate her 1960s haircut. I hate her knobby knees. I hate her cockroach-shaped splotch on her neck. I hate the way she smacks her lips before she talks. I hate the way she sounds when she laughs.
