  • Retro Style Swimsuits?

What do you think fashion experts: yay or nay? They look super cute on the website models (what doesn’t ) and I think a higher waist would work better with my softer post-baby belly. And this one is only $33:

I need some second opinions. I’m tempted to order it but don’t want to look like I’m wearing a costume. Blech, I hate shopping for swimsuits!

I think it's really cute! I can't really do the retro swimsuit looks (doesn't work on my body type), but I think they can be very cute.

I'm a pear shape, so no can do. The top would be very flattering for those of us without a lot up top.. I love Lands End swimsuits. They are durable and figure flattering.

Lands End used to have swim suits similar to that one. I think it's cute but would be concerned about the quality. My Lands End suits last for season after season so they are worth the price IMO.

Dang it, so am I. That probably means it’s a no-go for me, too. I’m sure the quality sucks but I just wanted a fun, lay by the pool suit. I’m bummed. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I'm glad you posted this! I was actually going to start a swimsuit thread. I'm not wild about tankinis, but need something to cover my postpartum-wrinkly-not-flat belly. For beach-pool days with the kids, I rock regular bikini bottoms and a rash guard. But I'd love to get something a little more man-catching (said in my best Lotti voice - Princess and the Frog).

I found that for me the perfect post-baby swimsuit is one piece with molded cups and gathered folds in the middle, preferably in black or navy. This way the boobs are supported and the middle is draped but I still got a waistline. The problem is finding this perfection for under $100.

I love the look! I'm not so sure I could pull it off without looking bottom heavy, but I want to.

I love retro suits, but they don't always love me...have you tried it on?

I ordered it and the one piece version of the same suit. Shipping was less than $1, so I figured it was worth the risk. It's all going to depend on what it does to my thighs.

I always wear a rashguard, have since I taught swim lessons and found it again while pregnant. Good stuff. Nothing about me is swimsuit ready though, but my daughter lives to swim, so I have to drag myself in.

Nice! I have noticed an increase in the numbers of rash guards I'm seeing in regular stores. Neat!

What about rash guards for little ones? Any recs (she's roughly 22#/18mo size)?

GRU, check Target and Old Navy (but these might not last beyond one season). Generally I try to buy DD's bathing suits that have a tshirt top and bikini bottom.

I got this in emerald from TJ Maxx for only $40. It does a pretty good job draping but I wish the cups were more solid.
