  • coffee mug/thermos

I am looking to get a great coffee mug/thermos/travel mug for Caleb's teacher as a year end gift. He has gone out of his way for him and I would like to do something nice in return. I am super picky about the specs because I hate a leaky mug...

    - preferably stainless steel but not mandatory - think boring man colors, black, grey, black... *maybe* dark navy
    - leakproof - this is a must - it cannot leak when tipped over
    - closes completely - I am looking for something that can be put into the pocket of a backpack while biking to work, but that you can still drink out of it, so not a traditional thermos & mug combo

Thoughts? I have one that is at least 7 or 8 years old and is beat up but still doesn't leak. It is from Starbucks, but they don't seem to carry anything similar anymore.

DH has one of these - its logo'd from a coffee shop in OR but I'm sure you could find them somewhere local or order one...

Those are DH's exact specs, and he has two of these, which he uses every day and throws into his bag with his laptop and books: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004WHWV He's had one of them for several years, and he got the other because he sometimes leaves one at work and needs the other for the next morning till he can collect the one that was left behind.

DH uses the OXO brand stainless steel travel mug that you can find at Target - it doesn't leak at all. It also comes in a thermos size.

Mine is similar to this, and it takes all my backpack abuse like a non-leaky champ: http://www.starbucksstore.com/starbu...nd-travel-mugs

The ones we love from Starbucks that are older we hunted down online. I'll ask DH what site he went to.

If you find it 13, let me know. I FLOVE my mug from starbucks, but it is nearly as old as C!

Metroguy - I like the idea of a personalized mug, it would be neat to get him one with a class picture on it, but are they leakproof? He bikes to school when the weather is nice, so the mug definitely needs to be backpack compatible.

The Contigo ones. I think Target has them too. DH lost all of mine...

These. I think Costco sells them in a 2 pack for $25. They are amazing and we gave them to dd's teachers for the holidays.

Or bottle cage compatible. A quick google says that the Kleen Kanteen ones will fit. This one also gets a lot of mentions in the big bike forums: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-1913-O.../dp/B0051A3Y48

the 2 for $20 Contigo mug packs are back at Costco. I just bought some--DH lost all mine and blamed it on MFM? He's not allowed to touch the new ones.

At any rate, they are awesome and usually $16-20 for one at any other store
