Last night I stopped in at ATLoft (because it is next to the grocery store ) and got two pairs of pants for $4.88 each. They are not staples - they are fun colors but I figured for 4.88 I can wear them a season and be done.

My sister says the Plato's Closet in your town is epic.

      ^5! Wait. Are they capris?

No! They are not capris. I have been around here long enough to know better.

I did not even know I had a Plato's closet in this podunk town. I will have to check that out.

LSW, I know the pants you were thinking of .

I have generally done better at clearance sales in regular stores than thrift/resale/consignment. Yesterday I got a $4.88 blouse at ATL and a couple $5 tshirts at Gap.

Although there's a lot of money in our area, you wouldn't guess it by looking at the women. Coach and AT are considered high end and Macy's is the fanciest store around.

I bought a leather Coach purse at a thrift shop today for $3.60 . . . and there was a nickle inside so that's Three-Dollars-and-Fifty-Five-Cents. It's in near perfect condition with a tiny scuff on the back side of the purse. It's this purse: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/used-coach-handbags-black (listed on e-bay for $175.)

I also bought this one in *perfect* condition for $35 a couple weeks ago:http://newbagstore.com/goods-352-COA...all-Brown.html

Ditto - my thrift store has those "crafty" purses made out of juice pouch wrappers.

Aaaand this is why I cringed when my MIL offered to take me to a chic department store to buy a purse. . . . and why I'm willing to brave a thrift store with two little boys (one swinging a clothes hanger at me from the front seat of a cart and the other running through the asiles with wet pants because he refused to go potty when I told him to.)

I also have one similar to this which I purchased at a resale shop for $37. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brahmin-Leat...item232b1b5cee. These usually retail for about $300. http://www.dillards.com/product/Brah...df=04002143_zi

You are so brave. I can't stand the running around acting nutso while I try to hunt for something good. That is amazing on so many levels!

The best part is when I'm trying to stay one-toddler-arm-plus-a-hanger length away from the cart and K2 starts saying, "Come here, Mom!" I usually catch K1 after a minute or two of running and toss him into the back of the cart too. Today, I overheard a little girl around K1's age mouthing off to her mother in the shop and thought, "Oh, boys who run around are so much easier than girls who talk back." (Not that boys don't talk back sometimes and girls don't run around sometimes but, generally speaking, my boys are raising a ruckus by running while some 4yo girl is provoking her mom with well-chosen words.)

Hahah too funny! I've been trying to get rid of that exact same coach bag for a whole now! (I'd like more than $3.55 back though). Not to hijack, but anybody have more advice on how to find a good consignment store to sell stuff?
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

Try e-bay. At least one person has it listed for $175 starting bid. Surely you could get something between $3.55 and $175 for it.

                                +1.
DH has great success buying and selling on eBay.
