  • Gift ideas for someone going back to school?

Our nanny starts back to school one day a week in August. We LOVE her and have already given her a 1-year present (her one year anniversary with us is next week) but I'd like to get her a little something (under $25, nothing extravagant) to encourage her with school.

    Any ideas?

Starbucks gift card so she can study in the cafe?

houseelf - that's a good idea! I was going to suggest a monogrammed planner (you can order them fairly inexpensively online, especially using promo codes), but you should probably have an idea of whether or not she's a "paper planner" person. I am still someone who needs to write down lists and appointments in addition to putting them in my phone. DH can't understand why I'd use a planner, but I can't live without one.

What about a gift card to the bookstore and a coffee mug with her initial or school mascot?

I think that's a great idea. Bookstore gift cards are like gold, IMO.

Or cute school supplies (pens, notebooks, etc) in a lunchbox? I used to make "earthquake kits" for friends who were going to grad school and filled them with school supplies along with things you'd have in elementary school kits like apple sauce and beef jerky.
