It might be my own bias, but I have an intense dislike for the mullet dresses/skirts.
You have a great figure, but I don't think this one flatters as much as others could. It does something weird to your chest and the green (or is it turquoise) washes you out in a strange way. Maybe that's the lighting, though?

I love the two dresses from zappos. The blue has an optional neck strap/haltar that I like way better than the strapless look.
Beach weddings are tough. My sil had a beach wedding and it was kind of a disaster. Wedding party was very formal but all the guests wore casual (sundress type) clothes. So even if the wedding party is formal I pretty much guarantee other guests will be casual just because it's the beach and no one is going to wear their best dress to the beach.Peggy

I'd ask the bride before going with a pattern. That's really going to stand out in photos. Although the wedding is in Hawaii, she might not be going with the Hawaiian/luau theme. When we married in FL, I was irritated by OOT guests (mostly DrK's cousins) who kept calling it a "destination wedding" and expecting kettle drums. It's not a destination wedding if it's the bride's hometown and yes, we do wear shoes and formalwear in Florida. No flip-flops, please.Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.

I think it's fine but it doesn't match the location as much as the previous patterned dress (although I agree it wasn't as flattering from a cut perspective). Could you have the overlay removed/hemmed on the other one? Also, strapless push-up bra...Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)

This trip is such a cluster! I realized this morning we never received a formal wedding invitation! I know she tried to send us one at one time, DH and transposed the street number in an email, when I corrected it she said her mom would resend it but they never did. I sent her an e-mail last week asking for the e-mails of the other lab mates that were coming and she told me she didn't know who was coming - really? The wedding is a week from yesterday and my understanding is that she and her family are already in Hawaii!
UGH!
I don't really have time to get that first dress altered in anyway, I went through my closet last night and the black/white was my best option I thought. Maybe I should post pictures of my other options and see if something else is better.
I don't know!!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Honestly, it sounds like it probably doesn't matter if she doesn't know who's coming. Black and white is fine in that case. You just look so pretty in colors!!Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)
