  • Let's dress for the party season

Our first party is Friday. I figured I would go ahead and start a thread.

I bought this dress in a shade of red between crimson and cranberry.

    (I didn't pay that $)

Black patent high heels? Bare legs or hosiery? Black wrap or gray/silver with a pattern on one side?

Oh, and can I wear this with boots too?

How fancy is the party? I think hosiery, shoes, & accessories make the outfit match the event. I can see this being dressed up or down depending.

Typically for Christmas/New Years parties I will pull out the glitz and glam a bit more than usual so I'd go for the shimmering, sparkling, shiny accessories if that's the case. If it's more casual, I'd hone those down.

        Love that dress, LSW!

Here's the deal with this party -- the XXXX Center for XXX and Development is full of umm...nerds. Last year someone wore a duster (think Wyatt Earp) and hat (think Zorro). I figured the wrap would dress it up enough. Last year I wore a knit top (that was too low cut but I didn't realize until I got there so my wrap stayed wrapped around me). At our table were a sweater dress and a dress covered in chili peppers.

I just bought a sweater dress, with ST, this afternoon.
I don't think it's fancy enough for a super high end party, but for portraits/holiday parties/church, it should be gravy.

Let's dress for the party season

The "fancy" party around here last year included peeps wearing a weird smattering of sequins, flannel, jeans, and boots.

I elected to get a cute sweater dress this year and call it good.

It's 35 out and raining. I bought patterned tights and told DH he will likely have to drop me off at the door as I am not running in 4-5" heels in the rain.

I have to find a dress for Dec 7 (Theater) and Dec 15th (holiday party). I will be 20 weeks along on the 11th. I want to be able to buy one dress but I am not maternity size yet and Im not in my old clothes anymore. This beer belly stage is rather obnoxious.

Maybe jersey - nice and stretchy?

The only tights I had were black patterned and were too busy with the shoes so I went with black patent high heels.

Masquerade Holiday Ball. Black tie optional. But in Cleveland. What say the fashion gods? Is that cocktail dress? Or long dress? Or...sweater dress?

I've never been able to dress appropriately in the Midwest. I always make the wrong call. I'm liking this dress
