Where can I get them??? I would love a pair or two and would prefer to spend <$30 total. Local shopping is a bonus (vs online).

The chepeast ones I've ever gotten were at TJ Maxx, like $6 and were as good as any others that I've purchased.

Wear fleece leggings under my clothes for warmth! They rock!

Yes I've seen a few at TJ Maxx too. I really want more of the fleece lined boot socks I saw last year!

Marissa, were they warm? I'm desperate for some warm socks. They have those at Amazon. I'm leaning towards some alpaca socks.....

Oh they are awesome, but I can't find them at TJ Maxx this year! So warm and silky

I think I'll order a pair from Amazon then. Thanks for the recommendation.

Slight tangent: Fleece tights are awesome, but the target brand suuuucks. Just in case anybody was wondering!

That is good to know! I bought regular leggings from there today, and I like them less than the ones from Walmart.

I just picked up some fleece Cuddl Duds and those things fucking rock. I wear them mainly with knit dresses and boots. Best winter wear purchase I've ever made. Super soft, comfy, and WARM.

Are alpaca socks warmer than SmartWool? I've resorted to wearing the fleece tights under jeans, SmartWool socks, and winter boots. Let me just add that in addition to two sweaters and a down 2 days ago and I finally understood "bone chilling cold"

I really like SmartWool socks. Columbia makes some ah-mazing wool socks, too. The Columbia wool socks don't stretch out like a lot of others I've owned, either. Very lightweight, too.

I don't have any alpaca socks, but I'd get some in a heartbeat if I could find them around here. I have no idea about their warmth.

Alpaca is extremely warm, but there is little to no crimp in the shaft of the fiber meaning that alpaca wool isn't very elastic and will sag quickly. It also isn't terribly durable. If you are looking for warm wool socks - I would shoot for 60% or more in merino wool (very fine, non-itchy), no more than 25% alpaca and a bit of a synthetic (5-10%) so you can throw the socks in the washer. A bit of bamboo or silk is really nice too.
