  • Holiday sock hop outfit?

Yes, Holiday Sock Hop. And it's a work event. DH's youngest partner is throwing a holiday party. . His partner's domestic partner is a young hip gay man. They are lots of fun and in their first year out. They've decided to host a work holiday party at their downtown apartment. DH just gave me the invite. It's a "Holiday Sock Hop".

So... I'm old, I guess. What the heck do I wear to that? Modcloth retro dress? I have a few, but they aren't "sock hop". Circle skirts, yes. They are retro. Is that too much for a work event? We are probably the second most young and hip in the practice....which is saying a lot. The other three partners strike me as more conservative.

Not sure if staff and residents are invited, they'd be younger and hipper of course. . We would still be in the "boss" category, though. I always feel like at this level we are supposed to blend in to the woodwork and not be "memorable" because that can so easily go wrong. Not sure how to "blend" and still be in the spirit of the invitation of the event.

    Fashion tips from anyone appreciated.

I got nothin', but it sounds like fun!! I'd likely go with something from modcloth too. Shabby Apple also has cute retro-ish dresses.

I'd go with one of the retro modcloth dresses you already own. Done deal.
