(AKA Sunshine Kids Radian car seat)

Anyone ever use one in rear facing position with an infant?
We're considering buying one for DS, and putting Starfish in DS's old convertible seat (Britax Boulevard).

    However...
If we bought 2 of them, the base is small enough that DS and the baby could be next to each other and we would have a freed up seat in the rear for an additional passenger.
I'm not sure if we should take the plunge, though - they're pretty pricey.

We did! It worked just fine rear facing. It's a bit taller than other seats so it needs a little more clearance than others, but we've had no issues with it.

ETA: Our Britax Marathon (RF) is in the center and the SSK Radian (FF) is next to it. No issues.

We've never tried RF, but have two FF in the back seat right next to each other (3 kiddos still in car seats/boosters) and the smaller footprint is well worth the price IMO!
