  • Anklets. Yay or Nay?

I found an old anklet from the 90s but I keep hearing anklets are trashy. It's a very thin silver chain with a tiny cross on it. Trashy?

Eh, I don't know. I would say no, but the other day I saw girl wearing one and it actually looked kind of cute on her.

I think it kind of depends on what your ankles look like. If you have a great lower leg, you might be able to pull it off.

Pics? I was a big fan back in the day, but now I feel like it's a rare occasion when they don't look tacky. Regardless, hold onto it. I'm sure they'll be in style again soon!

I love them, and I had no idea they were out of fashion. Haha I'm so clueless! "Luckily" for me, my old anklets haven't fit in years, so I haven't been wearing them. I say, bring them back!!

I won't say I think they are trashy, per se (though they definitely can be), but I do think in general they look dated.

I've seen them on some young 20-somethings rocking a 90s hipster look. I wouldn't go so far as to call them trashy but definitely not for everyone.

My 70-ish MIL wears anklets everyday. Always has. She's not trashy, but she's also 74. I think they are an old trend.

My mom (70y) had one. I don't know if she still wears it. When I was a baby in the 70s our nanny told her that nice girls don't wear ankle bracelets. I say do as you like anyway.

Too funny, I've never thought of anklets as trashy. I think if you have great legs an anklet could be a nice highlight. I'd probably wear one with some wedges and a slim skirt or shorts.

So what about an anklet signals trashy?

Did anyone else have this old commercial come to mind?
