  • Funeral attire

DH's grandmother passed away Sunday. We are sad, but this was a long time coming and she was stubborn to the end -- she couldn't hang on 12 hours and 5 minutes longer to make it to her 90th birthday. She had to go while she was still 89.

She loved African violets so we are all to wear shades of purple/pinks to her visitation and funeral. The weather is beautiful today but is supposed to be cold again Thursday (visitation) and Friday (funeral).

I need to find purple ties for DH and the boy child. I need dresses or at least tops for the teen girls and myself. It's been a while since we went to a visitation. Can the girls and I wear slacks to that or should we wear dresses? I was thinking dresses with tights and boots for the funeral. I don't mind wearing heels to the visitation since it's inside, but the last time I wore heels to a funeral, I ruined my shoes so I would prefer flats or riding boots.

I'm sorry for your loss but wow 89, what a life she must have led! I think pants are appropriate and really, as family, you should wear whatever you feel best honors her and what you feel most comfortable in.

So sorry for your loss. She was a good age.

If it's cold it's perfectly fine to wear black slacks. That's sweet about the violets.

Whatever you need to wear is fine. Slacks or dresses.

I found this marked down on a rack and it rang up at $26. Not sure that I'll wear it, but maybe. http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/l...%26slotId%3D21

M got this to wear with a cardigan. http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/c...%26slotId%3D48

Didn't find a dress for E yet. Will have to shop after K's occupational therapy in the morning.
