  • Men's chain for wedding ring?

DH told me he needed a chain for his ring. He's heard too many horror stories of people losing their rings that were tied onto scrubs. Most of my chains are dainty/feminine/fragile. What do your DH's use?

Dh puts his ring on a special clip he has on his keys.

You can buy a chain in any thickness or length you want. They literally make them on huge spools like rope. Just thicker/longer chains mean more metal so they more expensive. You might be able to get away with something leather or even rubber for this purpose. Those would be inexpensive.

It's not cost, just curious on durability under use (for ppl in the OR). I don't want to get something that will break too easily. Of course, DH never remembers to check out what other people are wearing...just sends me to ask the Board!

IDK what others are wearing but a thick gold/metal chain with a lobster claw type lock shouldn't break easily.

I'll ask my DH. I think he still ties it to his scrubs, though! He's made it through 17 years of surgery now, although he did knock out the diamond chip in it along the way. And he lost it once...but it was found.

My dad wore his on neck (same chain) for about 20 years before it finally broke...and sadly I believe he lost the ring :/ But if you replace it before 20 years I believe it was a thick gold one. He is an aircraft mechanic, so it is really dangerous for him to wear it...known guys who were electrocuted or lost a finger that way

Somehow dh has managed to never lose his, by putting it in his scub top pocket. He has also tied it to his pants. No problem in 9 years.

Asked Dh, he also said his pocket. I am surprised it hasn't been lost.

My DH puts his in the inside pocket of his scrub top. I'm sure he'll lose it one day. And I'll be super pissed because his was almost twice as much as mine!!!

We've used all sorts- from ball bearing chain to silver necklaces. They all tarnished terribly or broke eventually. Now he leaves his ring home on the mantle on his OR days.

I think hubby got a titanium one to wear - it's got a titanium cross on it, at least.

Dh ties his to his scrub pants in the knot. Never been a problem.
