• Black or White Sneakers?

Traveling outside the country next month and unlike personal trips, I will be with a group...As in not having the luxury of choosing how to spend my day. Therefore, I need some comfortable footwear if I end up stuck out and about for a whole day. I have some dressy flats and wedges for dressier days. Was even thinking of wearing my black riding boots?? For casual days I am thinking of getting new sneakers but don't want to look like the ugly American wearing running /cross training shoes.

Got any ideas of what I should get? I was thinking black but have recently noticed all white is back in style. What is comfortable and help me look like a local?
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I love my Chucks! I got them in grey, and I have a navy pair coming soon. For doing a lot of outdoor walking, I'd stay away from white.

I've been eyeing chucks, they have so many different styles these days. Are yours the ones with the soft back or the stiff (classic) ones?

I have some chucks but they have a slick sole...not sure how slip proof they are. Plus they hurt if I wear them when I am on my feet all day...mine are the stiff ones. DH says there are others that have a better footbed. Was thinking of getting some chuck-ish looking ones made by Teva that looked like they were more for walking.

Good point about staying away from white while traveling.

I went with an Ecco sandal thingie for lots of walking. Maybe a Dr Scholl's ballet flats would work, too.

Um... I don't know enough about fashion to answer this question. I have these:

No suggestions for sneakers. But, I recently got "me too" ballet flats and they are super comfortable! (And affordable).

I'd vote no on Chucks for walking shoes. Even my dd14 ends up with foot pain if she wears hers all day, including the new variety with more support. They are super cute though!! Dansko has several great sneaker that would be perfect. I love mine! Wore them all over Disneyland and they didn't irritate my PF. Here is one example but there are several. Dansko has come a long way! http://www.zappos.com/dansko-helen-black-white-suede. Also check out shoes from ABEO. Supportive and stylish. The Walking Company typically carries both brands.

Those are cute!
One of the reasons I like following the cast members from Ladies of London (Bravo show) on Instagram is because they wear so many cute sneakers. I'm pretty obsessed with Adidas classics right now.

I would go with something like the one JDAZ suggested. They're usually the type of sneakers I get since they're so versatile.

I may need to look up that show.

JDAZ11 - those ARE cute - you think they will look "put together" if I wear them with khakis or a black knit dress?

I have the onitsuka tigers ultimate 81 and personally I wouldn't wear them with anything dressy. To me they look really casual, actually. But maybe that's because mine are 4 years old. Maybe newer they would look cleaner... also, they're only marginally more comfortable than my Chucks.

I do not like this look - I think both would look better with chucks for example.

Are Keds out? I saw some leopard print keds that looked fun. Am I too old to wear Keds though? Isn't there a rule that if I wore it once, I should not do so again in my lifetime?

I just saw a couple of European tourists walking around the Capitol, and one of them was wearing Keds. Of course, the other was wearing Birkenstocks and nylons, so, y'know.

Anyway, I would say that you will be identified as American no matter what you do. The shoes are not going to be the deciding factor.
