  • Men's Suits?

I'm thinking of getting DH a new suit for graduation. Obviously it won't be a total surprise, but it's been a long time since he's gotten a new suit. It'd be used mostly for job interviews. Any advice on color? Pattern? Any other thoughts?

    TIA!

ETA: I'm looking at Indochino, they're running a deal right now.

DH got a suit from IndoChino for a wedding. It's nice quality and fits him well. Unfortunately it's not a cut that he would have wear (it's a gray suit with really narrow hipster pants) but he uses the jacket as a sport coat.

DH got his last suit from JCrew. It fits really nicely, and they did all the tailoring at the store.

        JCrew does have nice suits.

DH had one made from BlackLapel.com which looks similar to indochino. I think he got that one in a light grey and decided it wasn't formal enough for interviews (the fellowship ones he never took) So he had one custom made by a local guy. Honestly, it was under $1,000 and just looks so damn sharp. If there's someone locally that gets good reviews I would go with that. The suit is midnight blue, he wears it with brown wingtip oxfords.

Do you have a locally owned men's store in your city? If so, go there and give them your budget and I am pretty sure you will get better quality & better fit than at any department store. As a post training splurge, we got DH a suit from Barneys that is a POS. His suits from Jos A Bank have held up better and were a quarter of the price. Prime example, the suit his grandmother bought him back in 1997 from a little mom and pop place still looks current (classic cut/pattern) and has held up well.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

My husband gets his from Jos A Bank, always on sale. He's got a navy herringbone pattern one that is his favorite.

If you're a standard size, you may do much better at a chain like JABanks. DH can't ever find anything there and gets pissed and fussy within 5 minutes flat. So, YMMV.
