  • My fav dress

Looong story short. A hotel lost my favorite dress. This dress was awesome. Could dress it up or wear it with flat sandals/cute sneakers. Made me look put together - never wrinkled. Traveled well, hid spills and was comfy - hid extra lbs. nicely. Was also well made and classic.

I am looking for something similar. My budget is higher than usual because I now realize what an important piece it was to my wardrobe. It was my go to. I shopped at Neimans and Nordstroms last weekend and found nothing. Ive ordered some dresses from their online store as well as one from Anthro.

What other places should I look for something unique (I bought it in another country), not trendy and well made? I am looking for A-line/Fit and flare sheath type of dress in navy.

Modcloth is loved by my cousins (?) Not sure on quality.

If you know the brand and style, you may be able to replace it via eBay or poshmark.

Unfortunately I do not remember the brand. I found ithe dress at a small boutique outside the US.

I love ModCloth but they are hit or miss. Some items are great and some are cheap. I may try the ModCloth store front. Never been to the store.

I imagine you have multiple photos of you in it? Share!

Also, asos has free shipping and returns, and you can sort by cut and color. Large range of quality and price. Their inventory changes frequently as well so you could keep checking ongoing.

Ooh - thank you - never thought of Asos. Found one today - it would have to be Ted Baker...Ingive it an 8 out of ten. I want a 10 for that price though. DH says For an 8, it looks good on me.

I have a few more delivered tomorrow.

Ha! A pic would be sooo easy BUT I have never been successful at uploading pics here.

              My fav dress

Revolve (website), shopbop (website)... or the reformation (also website) have been my recent browsing (rarely purchasing) favs lately. I think shopbop has gone a little downhill, but it still works well for expensive-ish staples.

              Oh look on joie too...

I hate clothes this season. Honestly, everything looks the same. So many ruffles and stripes. But I looked at revolve the other day and they had cute stuff. They also have dresses that are insanely expensive and don't look worth it, but it's worth a look.

I really have had good luck with Milly dresses lately. I used to always find great really well made wear everywhere dresses at Kate spade and Tory burch, but I was pretty disappointed in Kate spade when I last looked in May. I found a few things I liked at Tory burch, but nothing you'd want to wear everywhere like you're describing.

I feel like I never have amazing luck with anthro dresses lasting forever. They just don't usually hold up for me the way you're describing your old dress. I've a few rare exceptions, but eh. Lots of tunes I feel like they are never the same after being washed or dry cleaned.

The dress I ordered from anthro had specific reviews about how it was like anthro dresses from olden time - as in well made. It was the main selling point for me. I have not received it yet.

Thanks for these other suggestions...This is why IMSN is so ahhmazing - I had no clue about these websites. I always learn something from you guys. I seem to fall in a rut with my clothing purchases - have my go to brands. I really need to expand my repetoire...especially now that I am of mature age.

                  My fav dress

I've had a similar issue lately - so I just found most of those - besides shopbop.

I used to order a lot from piperlime, bummed gap got rid of that branch. And weirdly, I think shopbop now has some affiliation with amazon (isn't modcloth that Walmart just bought?). Soon we'll just have two options - amazon or Walmart... so it should get easier. LOL (kind of &#128527.

Oh right... and they bought and ruined C. Wonder (which was Tory burch' husband ripping off her brand... but I liked it). And I heard that coach bought Kate spade, which upsets me because I usually really like her clothes... and I'm sure it will change.

I also just realized that most of anthro stuff from the past 3/4 years has actually been pretty awesome. I had one dress that I could wear until I was like 25 weeks pregnant (with twins), but looks great on me when I'm slim. I've worn it like 75 times, still in great shape. So I shouldn't have said that about anthro... I will say that for a while their clothes were sort of one time wears for me. Right now I'm starting to feel that way about jcrew. I feel like their stuff REALLY isn't as durable as it used to be. And I love the feel and look of their like lien shirts... but they basically can't be washed. Really annoys me.
