Does anyone have recommendations for a very quiet, front loading washer/dryer set? I’m looking for something on sale for Labor Day weekend.

I had an old stackable lg in our last house. It was outside the kids bedrooms and fine.

I will say that I think almost all new washers are awful. I don’t know about noise, but I’d look into a stackable speed queen. (I have no idea if they go on sale).

I have an LG front load washer and dryer. They're 8 years old now so I'm sure new machines are even quieter, but with the door closed in our laundry room, you can barely hear them. The base/drawer for underneath is well worth it, for your back, storage and to reduce vibrations. We even had them in an upstairs laundry closet of a rental and had no issues. As brand they're very reliable.

I was going to avoid the base/drawer because I wanted to put a counter top over the machines. I’m short and I think they will be too tall for me to fold on top of them if I have the base. Do I *need* it? Will front loading machines be awful without it?

Oh right. No I don't think you need it. We actually got the pedeatals after we moved because of the layout of the room, we needed the machine doors to be higher up. They sat on the floor in the upstairs laundry.

Someone in a local FB group was asking about front loaders recently and there was a link to a great Consumer Reports comparison.

We don’t have pedestals for our front loaders because I wanted them low enough to fit snug under a windowsill, and I haven’t had any problems. I’d never thought about whether they’d be quieter with the pedestals. 🤔
No advice on the volume of mine. My kids are so loud I can never hear anything around here anyway. 😆
