  • a funny story and for the resident DVM....

    to eval.

my mom has two rottys. one is very cool, laid back...a lover.

the other...is just plain weird. she has quite the personality, very protective, and is jelous of anyone or anything that gets near my mother.

the weird personality has advanced to "motherhood"....two weeks ago my mother noticed she was becoming VERY protective of her toy. she sleeps with it, licks it, lays on it, carries it around, growls at the other dog and gives her dirty looks when she comes near it. my mother just assumed it was a phase. well, the phase has advanced. she is bagged up, leaking milk, and acting like the toy is a real baby! weirdo. she is constantly cleaning it and nudging it. i told my mother to call a local shelter and get that dog a kitten who has been rejected by its mother.

    she IS NOT preggers.

    so, michele...thoughts?

It does sound like a false pregnancy...why isn't she spayed?

thanks for the link. that describes her to a T.

michele, she was VERY, VERY sick and just recently has begun to act and feel normal again. the vet my mom takes her to told her to hold of on spaying for about 6 months. (to make sure she is strong enough for surgery)

they live in the country and there are a few old barns around. on a walk one day, my mother caught her eating something. by the next day she was violently ill. thousands of dollars and weeks later she came home from the vet. the vet thinks it was rat poison.

i'll pass the link on to my mom, thanks!

So sorry to hear she was sick! I was mostly teasing though!

Hope she stays on the mend!
