Thankfully, not my husbands. (not yet, anyway)
But our very close friend Mike is to deploy on January 4 to the Air Force hospital in Balad, Iraq. (that's the hospital south of Bagdad where people are treated before heading either back to the field or to a US based hospital)
He's an ER doc so you know he's going to see things that will unfortunately stick with him for the rest of his life. Luckily he's Air Force which only deploys docs for four month rotations. His orders call for 120 days in country so hopefully we'll get him back by the end of May.
His wife (an AF neonatology fellow) is of course a mess. I told her that she can come over and help me paint my house. She can strip the wallpaper in the bathroom.
So, please send good thoughts, prayers, vibes, etc. to Mike and all of our personnel (medical or otherwise) overseas.
