    Unfortunately, at my very large university, most professors here just care about research and because of the large number of students, it's quite difficult to develop a closer relationship with any faculty.

    so many times I felt like I was wasting their time, never getting emailed back or getting a blank stare if I introduced myself. Oftentimes, in a class of 700 I never even talked to the professor.

    It is a blessing for sure if you have a special teacher that positively influenced you in your life. Mine is Mrs. Miller from 5th grade. Every morning she greeted each one of us with a hug. She made everything exciting. Read "the Indian in the Cupboard" to us using different voices for each character. She got to know each student on a more personal level AND has probably never forgotten a student that she had. She's an amazing woman.
