  • Would you be offended.....

if your MIL sent you a copy of one of your wedding pictures (from almost 7 years ago) that she very obviously scanned into her computer, printed on her cheap printer, then put in a cheap plastic frame? OK, how about if you aren't even in that picture?

What if she sent a package very clearly labeled "pictures" addressed only to your husband? And they were just pictures of her new house?

My poor husband just shakes his head and apologizes.

He apologizes and doesn't even try to defend her! He's a little rough around the edges sometimes, but is good as gold, I have to say.

I like to employ the 2 year old method of dealing with people... If I don't acknowledge you, you aren't really there. I don't acknowledge ridiculous actions such as these. They don't get the desired attention, so it takes all the fun out of her game. That's really all it's about-- getting some kind of reaction so she can play the martyr. "I didn't mean anything by sending that picture. Oh, you must know that I would never do anything to hurt you in any way. I was just trying to think of a gift you'd like that we could afford on our tight budget." By the way- they (mom & stepdad) just bought a 2700 square foot house.

Can you tell we've been through this before once or twice?
