I know of them, only because they are "Muslim" countries and I had to study them in college.

I was a geography teacher for two years but if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't know many of the "stans"...pitiful isn't it

I only learned about the "stans" when my brother went to work in Iran for a couple of years.
