  • My mom is coming!

Tomorow my mom is flying all the way from Toronto (think of that as just above Detroit) to Calgary (think of that as just above Montana.

It's been eight months since she's seen the girls, and she will stay for two weeks! I am so excited. She's waited so long because my poor younger sister has been so sick with Lyme Disease. She is even losing her hearing. We had my sister with us for a while, and now she is travelling to Norway to see some of her friends. So mom feels free to come and visit.

It's been tough moving so far away. We did residency in Toronto, only an hour from her house. I pine for my family and old friends, and I pine for old stone buildings and big hardwood trees. Oh well...

Also, my mom is 72, so I am keenly aware that each and every visit is to be cherished. She is a breast cancer survivor (7 years now), but you can not take health for granted. She is in great health, and I hope it will be that way for a long time. With my parents in their seventies, I am really noticing a certain "slowing down". Also, things that would never have made them nervous before now are BIG deals for them (like travelling...and this goes back to before Sept 11). But I digress....

    I can't wait!

    Janet,

I'm sooo jealous!! Enjoy! No friendship can compare to the mother/daughter bond. Besides, I'm sure that Natalie and Grace will love the unadulterated spoiling that any grandma is obligated to do. To heck with the house, you should go on date night with hubby one night while you have loving and reliable child care. (This is when the spoiling overdrive will occur )

I'm glad that your sister is doing better...that has to be a relief to you all. I don't know much about Lyme disease...is she forever cured?

Oh Janet! This is wonderful for you and the girls! I'm so happy for all of you! And envious, too, I might add! Please have an absolutely wonderful vacation with her! Moms are the best. Hopefully I can convince my mom that the skies are safe and she can come and visit this summer!

              Janet,

How is/was the visit? I hope that you both reconnected and had lots of good quality girl time together.

Hi there! WOW, it's been a long time since I had tome to visit the board. I usually have some time after the girls go to bed, but with my mom here, that's been occupied. It's been sooooooo wonderful having her here. Although we had brutally cold weather! Minus 30s Celsius. That is about 30 below zero Ferinheit. NO KIDDING!!! It is no lie. So we were very much indoors.

My mom is so great. But she is leaving tomorrow. I'm so sad, but so glad she came.

I will write more later in the week, but I hope everyone is doing well. I honestly have not been able to keep up with the boards.
