Robyn - I thought I liked you, but you're clearly FAR too disciplined. What on earth are you subsiting on???

Robyn -- is it gluten that you are avoiding? My mom has gone gluten-free and swears it has been worth it. It took a while but she is into the swing of it now. I eat some of the gluten-free crackers because I just like how they taste. I'm sure the products here aren't the same as the ones there otherwise I would mention some of the ones she likes.

Oh Jenn, LOL, I know! I didn't think it was so bad until I wrote it all down, and then I realised I sounded a bit like a nun....

I was vegetarian for a while before moving to Japan, but fish was in everything there, so I reintroduced that. DH doesn't really drink because his poor Asian body can't handle it (he turns red and itchy, LOL!) so alcohol became a bit of a non-event for me too. Then I gave up coffee during pregnancy, and it didn't really make a comeback afterwards because I'd got so damn sensitive to it. Fried foods have never figured particularly heavily in my diet, even less so since hanging out with a heart surgeon, and I actually prefer water to soft drinks anyway. So that's me, haha.

Cupcake, at this point it's apparently just the wheat I'm supposed to be avoiding, thank goodness! I think breakfast in particular would be so hard without gluten... However, I would say that probably giving up wheat has been a good thing. My tummy's shrunk a bit, for one thing. But it seems to force you to have a bit more of a balanced diet rather than taking the easy (wheat) option. Most diets become a bit too heavily reliant on grains, instead of the large range of other things available for healthy eating. In my case, the doctor was concerned that a sensitivity to wheat (apparently common) may be inhibiting the absorption of other nutrients.
