  • How do you relax?

What do you do to relax during the day?

My time exercising in the morning is really the best way that I've discovered of blowing off steam and relaxing......I hadn't been for a couple of weeks because of getting the stomach flu and then an upper resp. infection...and going back today has made such a difference...

    kris--

I agree with you, working out is a great de-stressor. Except I need to feel connected with nature rather than a machine, so I live for outdoor walks and runs.

I spend so much time at work staring at a screen that I really try to limit my screen time (tv, computer, video games, etc.) at home. Oprah said that she felt that tv was an energy drain and it does seem to have this effect on me. There is something to be said for mimimizing background noises and imagery. My dh, however, absolutely does not suscribe to this theory.

Other than that, I talk on the phone, read, and post on this site! I feel stronger when I am connected to people.

I try to exercise or do yoga to get out the excess energy. I am in such a people demanding profession that I get sucked dry and at the end of the day I become a hermit. I have to have some alone time or I just go nuts. I can't stand coming home and having my beloved there already (isn't that terrible?). I don't watch a lot of TV (especially since I turned off the cable!) so we read a lot. Now that we have the puppy, my last week has been taking care of the dog. I haven't been to the gym in a week, but I've walked as much as I did when I was training for the marathon- at least it feels that way!

I know I SHOULD exercise to relax...And I have to admit, though most TV is draining, my weekly dose of ER is like a relaxation fix...Work in the garden and knit...

Another good relaxation tip: TLC....If you like ER, you'll love Trauma Life in the ER and Maternity Wards!!! Also, I have to admit that I don't ever miss an episode of "Trading Spaces"....
