  • Anyone match at Gundersen/Mayo??

Hi Everyone!! Thats right, the day finally arrived so now we soon to be resident spouses know what our future holds. YIPPEEE! My DH matched at Mayo for radiology and Gundersen (LaCrosse, WI) for his TY. I was wondering if anyone else is at these programs, or is possibly moving there in June? I would love to hear from you.

And how did everyone else's Match Day experience go?? I am here in Buffalo, NY and it just so happens the NCAA Basketball Tournament is also going on. The bar that the medical school held Match Day is in a very very popular bar downtown, so there were tons of fans from the games in addition to our very well celebrated bunch of MS's! It was a blast. Before DH opened his letter I started to tear up because everyone around us was all excited and crying. So, when he actually opened it and showed it to me, I was in shock. It was our first choice.

I hope everyone had a great day, and everyone's match is just as they hoped it to be!! I look forward to possibly meeting some of you in the future!!

    Amy,
Congratulations! We are actually on our way out of Mayo, but the Radiology residents here are really impressive (and pretty cool). DH is in the ED, so he works with them a bunch.
One tip for once you get to Mayo - you will receive a packet of information from the Mayo Families Connection. You probably won't get it until next year, but I'm not positive. There is an opportunity to be sponsored by another spouse. This was a really easy way for me to meet people and to force me out of the house a bit when we first got here. Also, there will be a welcome brunch and activities each month (book club, gourmet club, etc). It is an awesome way to get a network of friends that understand what you're going through.
Also, if you want info on where to look for housing, when you get to that point, let me know. There are a couple of areas in Rochester you might want to avoid (it's a pretty nice city overall, though).
