  • Do you subscribe to any magazines?

    If so what?

Several years ago I was able to use airline miles towards magazine subscriptions (we rarely flew that airline, so we knew that those miles would never be used for airline tickets), and I became hooked. So hooked that I recently renewed one of those subsriptions by paying out of pocket. *gasp*

I have subsribed to Parenting and Parents. Those were okay, and it seemed that the same articles with different variations would repeat. I did not renew after the airline miles purchase ran out. I subscribed to Food and Wine. I liked it and found some good recipes, but it had a lot of specialty ingredients that I was too lazy to hunt down. I subscribed to to Taste of Home, which had some great recipes but it got old after a while. I
    did not renew those subscriptions.

Right now I'm getting Bon Appetite, a subscription I got when I purchased a coffee pot. It is similar to Food and Wine, in that it has some great recipes but it also has a lot of specialty ingredients. I probably will not renew it.

But, my favorite, favorite magazine right now is Food Everyday. I think it is Martha Stewart, although she is not advertised very prominently. It is so practical for families and the recipes are easy and yummy. I just sent a check off to renew it.

Can you tell that I love cooking magazines?

I enjoy reading Domino--the home/decorating magazine and may subscribe to that.

We get National Geographic (kid and adult versions), Ranger Rick, Fine Cooking, Cooks Illustrated, Fine Homebuilding (after Inspired House folded, I don't like it as much).

I'd like to add Real Simple and a handful of others.

And the size of it- I think carrying it qualifies as weight-lifting

We get: National Geographic, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Runner's World, and Marriage Partnership.

I am embarrassed to post how many magazines we get. I do read them all, though.....the ones that are for me, that is.

Magazine sales is one of the major fundraisers at my kids' school. 'Nuff said.

                    Currently:

                    Cooking Light
                    Vegetarian Times
                    Self
                    Shape
Parenting (agreed with the aforementioned posts: BO-ring, it won't be renewed)
                    Adoptive Families
                    Army Times
                    Washington Post Weekly
                    Domino
                    Better Homes and Gardens
                    Eating Well

                    For the hubbie:
                    Road and Track
                    Motor Trend
                    Car and Driver

Various professional journals for both of us (why I continue to pay hundreds of dollars to keep memberships in organizations that I 1) don't necessariily agree with and 2) don't work in the field anymore is beyone me. Maybe it's sentimental.

We also get a newsletter every other month for kids adopted from Russia and Eastern Europe. Nikolai's too young for them now but I'm keeping them. They have sections on traditions, food, music, etc.

Ours change slightly from year to year. Currently we have:

                      Atlantic Monthly
                      Motor Trend
                      New York

We just finished Maxim, Real Simple, Food Everyday and Forbes, which we didn't renew. I'm also thinking of getting Domino when we move. I get Wine Spectator and occasional Gourmet from work for free.

I'd like to know more about Domino? It sounds like something I would be interested in.

I also get Pottery Barn. Does that count?

I wanted to take a look too. Here's the website:

I also like Cookie magazine. The August issue had some great family vacation ideas.

I bought Nickelodeon magazine for $1, so *I* get that.

I get Ladies Home Journal (or used to) because I contributed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma charity.

I used to get O because my mom had it sent here with some airline miles.

DH gets PC Magazine because he got it for free off of slick deals.

We get all the orthopaedic journals and JAMA. Those are free.

I get Parents Magazine for free because I bought something online unrelated and it came with it. I don't read it.

I need a good foodie magazine with good recipes. I am reading intently to decide which one(s) to get. I will get them off eBay once I decide.
