  • What a GREAT night!!!

We had the best night last night!!! We dropped the kids off at the gym where they take classes for the "fun night" and met our friends (who also dropped their kids off there ) for dinner at a great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant here! It was so much fun....and it is soooo nice to finally make friends with another couple and get out and do something together as a group! The best part is that they are non-medical and so we talk about everything except medicine...

Though.......Thomas was paged while we were eating and without thinking told the doc on the other line "just do a rectal swab".....the looks on our friends' faces and those of the people nearby was priceless...but it definately broke the ice!

    Kris,

Congrats on getting a good night out. (By the way, my spouse has never taken me to a drug dinner in lieu of a date)

I've been married to a physician for a while now, but I do recall initially having to get use to the casual discussion of 'bodily functions'.

So have you gone to a drug dinner? We used to use them as our date night during residency!

This was great fun...we will definately be doing it again!!!!!!

        Kris,

That is awesome! You should make this a monthly ritual. I promise that it will turn your life around!

          Kris,

We use drug dinners as cheap dates all the time. In fact last week, we went to two in a row- one was to the Cheesecake Factory and we took Emma with us (it was short notice, and couldn't find a sitter in time, ie- my parents ), and the second one was to a really nice place, my parents watched Emma, and the food was great.

We just went to an awesome interview evening Friday night.....we paid $20 for a sitter, but that was it....I would guess that my dinner total was at least $50 but it was paid for by the hospital.....the food was great, we had a blast talking to the "new recruits" ....it was really fun!

No, I've never been to a drug dinner. Around here at least they seem to be continuing medical education talks at a fancy restaurant coutesy of a drug company. If my dh says nice things about the ambience and the food, I put the restaurant on the list of places we'll go to later. If I miss the hint, she takes me there for my birthday.
