  • Shipping a box question

I bought my sister a car seat (17 lbs) and need to ship it to her. I took it to fed ex tonight and they said it would be 40 dollars. I tried to calculate postage on ups.com-60 dollars, and usps.com- 127 dollars. Am I doing something wrong or do I really have to pay that?

Sounds about right- I paid ten bucks to ship 3 pounds to Iraq.

For a package that big USPS is usually the most expensive. UPS ground shouldn't be that expensive I wouldn't think, but maybe it is.

Your sister - is this the one that has had all the issues? I hope she finally has good news.

Are you doing 2 day shipping or adding insurance? That does seem expensive. I'd take it to the UPS store and ask for the ground rate.

Try the post office. They are cheaper. Seriously. You can go to ups.com and usps.com and do shipping calculators. That should save you some time. There are other companies too. I don't know how their rates are. DHL, Airborne Express, etc., but I usually stick with the post office.

You could try returning the carseat and buying a comparably price one on Amazom.com or Overstock.com or somewhere like that. Shipping should be a heck of a lot cheap. Amazon often runs specials if you spend more than $50 or so.
