  • The Cost of a Vacation!

Whoa! We've been going through the whole...where do we go? thing...and my husband's colleagues suggested the Wisconsin Dells...it's nearby and supposed to be really awesome. Thomas and Andrew found a brochure for some pirate themed hotel/park and decided that this was IT...and imagine my surprise when I went to check out the cost today............The cheapest room for a night is $259...can you BELIEVE THAT??? I have gone through all of the area hotels and any of them that have waterslides in them and have some sort of a theme are all in the same price range.....You know...if we were going to Mexico or someplace exotic, I might be able to see an expensive room...with meals included, but who in their right minds would pay almost $300/night to stay in Wisconsin?

I'm starting to feel like this vacation of ours is not going to happen....

Gosh...driving to Orlando and going to Disney would still be cheaper than a few days in WI...go figure that one out!

    Summer Season- isn't it great??!!

My friend and I stay ed for two days in Martha's Vineyard at a cost of 50/night. The day we left was the official start of the 'season' and the rate jumped to 200/night. Same weather, same house.

My friend's mom had a beach house that my friend has held on to- that baby is fully rented from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

For the family reunions at the beach we always try to go as late in the season as we can so that the houses don't cost as much. Check out the websites for last minute vacation deals- maybe they'll have something. check out http://www.11thhourvacations.com

      Kris,

Have you considered state parks and camping? Some of them have cabins. It is really cheap and can be alot of fun. Of course, if all of the work falls to you it may NOT be fun!! Camping gear, etc. is going on sale nopw too. Check out Army/Navy surplus stores.
