  • Recruiters vs What Else??

OK, Kristen, I remember you mentioning something about not using recruiters or something... Actually, I can't remember what you said, so I was wondering if you would tell me again. Bob has his CV out there, and a recruiter called today saying he has clients in the area that we are seeking. Bob has also contacted the hospital coordinator there and sent her his CV. We are getting excited about potential prospects. Bob mentioned to me that going through a recruiter may have it's drawbacks such as not getting a signing bonus or moneys like that. Anyway, I would appreciate everyone's input about getting a job post-residency or post-fellowship... We are really job-hunting right now. Bob's on the phone and mailing out his CV. Yikes!!! Please, please any advice??? Everyone respond with any tidbits...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

    Sincerely,

    Christy

Well, I hope that jlynnb comes across this post, because she might just be the new house expert with all of the research she's done on this.......

What I do know about hospitals and practices that use recruiters is that they often make this choice because they have trouble recruiting on their own....which can (but doesn't always have to) be a red flag. Because the hospital/practice has to pay a hefty sum for these services, often you don't get a sign on bonus...

We looked into all of the options and ended up going with advertisements in the journals and online sites to find our position.

I'm interested in what others have done or are planning on doing as well.....but my thoughts are to send Bob to his journals or websites that he frequents that have job postings....
