Oh, wow! I am so sorry!! (!!!!!) I used a Benadryl anti-itch wand on DD when she stepped in the fire ants. It seemed to help?

The lack of fire ants is one of the reasons why I am LOVING the midwest.

My SIL was bitten by fire ants in Texas and went into anaphylactic shock!

I'm glad you're on the mend and hope you don't get the itchies too bad.

I got bitten last month on my ankle - the damn thing was INSIDE!

Apply wetted tea bags and let sit for a long time, then give your foot an oatmeal bath. Helped me immensely as well as Benadryl + alcohol + lots and lots of tears.

It sucks. I feel for you.

Good God! Really??? An ant can do that?

I have heard tell of people saying they stepped in a pile of fire ants and complaining about the bites, but I thought they were just...little love nips or something. They require prednisone? crikey. Never seen one, and now, never want to. YEy for Indiana.

Hoping you're all better by now, Jenn?

Australian quarantine is really strict (you can hardly bring anything in - even muddy shoes!) so we'd never had a problem. But somehow in the last few years, a few made their way across the ocean and some have been spotted here. Fortunately the government got on top of it immediately and I think (?) they've been almost eradicated. Thank God - they sound really horrible! Good luck with the exterminators...
