The joys of homeownership

Yeah, I'm up and all wound up at almost 2am.... We just spent over an hour in the pouring rain dumping out buckets of water that was filling up in one of the storm windows. Our front landscaping is a mess now from pulling out bricks so that the water could drain away from the house. Apparently the gutter drain thingy was clogged so all the water was pounding down and flowing into the storm window. The damn thing was full. Thankfully, the leaking in the basement was minor (apparently someone caulked the window). Our neighbors were up too vacuuming water from their finished basement. The water pours into their basement. They're going to have to get new carpet and install a sump pump. We're going to have to fix the grading in the front. Not that the landscaping was fab to begin with, but now it is definitely trashed. I am glad I got up and checked things out, it had been pouring for a few hours. Luckily H fixed the grading in the back a couple of weeks ago and there was practically no water near the house. Anyhow, I hope no one else in my area got hit with the same stuff.

That stinks Davita! That was one heck of a storm. I was up, too, but fortunately only due to the noise.

Oh My! That sounds awful. At least it didn't get too much into the house though, but what a mess. This whole home ownership thing is new to me, so its exciting, but boy it sure seems to have its drawbacks too!
