Sista- my hat is off to you-

I took Nikolai to his school's Open House today. Cripes! I don't know how you do it. I was ready to jump out the classroom window into the tree fort. he's teacher is nice and soothing and gentle....

everyone is so kind and sweet.

We sang the "Peace Song" at the "circle" (they do a Morning Circle every day and sing the Peace Song.

Finally, after 2 hours of meeting the 50 kids, their parents, step-parents, siblings, parent's significant others, etc...I looked at Nikolai and said, "ok, honey, mommy needs a glass of wine."

I can't believe you jumped willingly into the abyss of the under 5 yo set. (although I'd guess from personal hygeine habits to eating habits to clothes cleanliness, they're probably not all that different from your college students. and the under 5 set isn't likely to be hungover, either)

    Still- break a leg...

Thanks Jenn...sorry it took me so long to see this You are right, it really is just a different set of "issues." You just have to get to a place where excessive bodily fluids is no biggie and genuinely savor those moments that only little ones can have. I also have a need for calm that allows me to take it all in stride. (I say it that way because it is not a virtue really, but a reaction to growing up with an over hyped mother ) I can't even say how much this experience has improved my parenting skills!

Next week I get my college students back too

How did Nikolai like his new school?
