I hate it when people ask you want you want - and you tell them - and then they change what you said to what they want.

    Examples:
Dad - What side dishes do you want with your steak?
Me - A baked sweet potato and vegetable kebabs with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes.
Dad - We usually cut up the sweet potatoes and put them in foil packets with carrots and onions and green beans. How does that sound?
    Me - umm...ok.

MIL - Would you like me to make a dessert.
ME - Sure. What were you thinking about making?
MIL - What would you like?
Me - How about some chocolate chip cookies? Just the generic recipe from the Nestle bag is my favorite.
MIL - How about those cake mix cookies? I can use a vanilla cake mix and some oil and some chocolate chips.
    Me - ummm...ok

How are either of those what I asked for? If you were going to do what you wanted, why did you ask me what I wanted??

I agree - some people just need to be honest that they want to do, what they want to do.

Sweet that they're offering, but a better way to do it.

"I'm going to make some grilled sweet potatoes with all this crap in it. Would you like one with your steak?"

Why does this always happen to me when I go to get my hair done?

I do know exactly what you're talking about. Frustration.

Heidi - The hair thing would be really frustrating! Especially since you are paying for the service! I'm chuckling because my dad and MIL are trying to be nice. But paying for something and not getting what you want - Grrr!
