    Re: Chicago Marathon

It is true they ran out of water, despite what the marathon director is claiming. There were only water stations every 2 miles so by the time you got there, you had to take several cups just to stay alive.

People were running into their homes to get cups and extra water for people.

Also at several aid stations they had no water until the last table and they made you grab a cup and wait in line for water.

Most people didn't exactly train to spend 10-15 minutes at water stations through-out the race. Obviously the faster you are, the less this was a problem because it was less crowded.

We were unseeded (aka slow) and when they stopped us there were people around us from corrals C and D (3:20 marathoners).

4 months of training, $110 dollars, and they ran out of something which is virtually FREE in our country.

        Re: Chicago Marathon

        Yup.

From the race director: "We had thousands of gallons of water. We had 50-70,000 servings of water and 37,000 servings of gatorade at every rest area."

Well dude, DO THE MATH. That's 100,000 servings of liquid for 45,000 runners. If you took a cup of water to dump on your head and a cup of gatorade, you were at your allottment. And since lots of water was spilled trying to fill cups fast enough, that's why you ran out. Water stops were every 2 miles also so you were completely parched when you got there necessitating several cups of water and gatorade each time.

The director is faulting runners for "taking 5-7 cups per station and depleting supply." Would he have preferred we all get heat stroke?

GOD BLESS THE PEOPLE OF CHICAGO FOR HELPING EVERYONE THEY COULD!!!!

The person that died, they are now saying didn't die because of the heat but because of a heart condition. They are saying that he could have died regardless.
