  • For our computer people...

My grandmother entered a nursing home for the first time earlier this year. She's 94! My sibs and I have been discussing how to get her online. Does anyone know of special computers for seniors? Maybe something that is basic and does just email (with pictures) or has a large keyboard? She's totally mentally capable, but is not comfortable operating a regular computer.

    Thanks!

    Hello Janet,
I googled keyboards for the visually impaired and came to this site
    http://www.buypcsupplies.com/categor...FReQGgodLD7Osg
There are monitor settings that you can adjust in Windows to make the screen very large. There are also other accessible settings that can also have print read to her.
Check out this site also in reference to those settings.

    Good Luck

There is voice recognition software, too -- she could speak commands and text into the computer and reduce the amount of keyboarding she'd need to do.

Here's a list with reviews of some of the programs.
