  • So, what does the dawkter wear?

Inspired by the art therapy thread-

What does the dawkter in your house wear to work?

Mine is in his ACUs (the desert combat fatigues). He wears his dawkter coat on top while he's in the hospital. He doesn't wear a stethoscope or anything like that since he rarely uses one. He keeps it in his dawkter bag. When he leaves the hospital he has to wear the black beret. His dawkter bag is a desert combat fatigue backpack.

Mine hasn't worn a white coat since intern year. He generally will wear a shirt / tie to the office (even before he changed jobs).

My dh is boring in comparison to Rick.

Dh wears scrubs, Danskos, a stethescope and his wedding ring. :mydoc:

He hates wearing a white coat. Absolutely hates it.

On OR days, DH wears scrubs and clogs. On clinic days, he wears a shirt and tie (and pants ) and loafers. For weekend rounds, today he wore jeans and a sweater.

Pants here, too. Along with a shirt and tie and white coat. Scrubs for days with lots of procedures (but I think he changes there, I never see him leave or come home in them).

Re: So, what does the dawkter wear?

DH is all about the scrubs. He wears them pretty much every day, with a white coat over them, since he is either on call or in surgery every day. He doesn't like to dress up anyway, so it is perfect for him.

Scrubs, no white coat. I think he has only worn his white coat once since intern year.

Dockers or Jeans, he always wears jeans on the weekend, shirt, and never a tie. Loafers or sneakers. Never wears a white coat, but does always have his stethoscope around his neck (critical care/pulmonary  ).

Here the nsurg's wear scrubs and white coat on OR days and suits on clinic days. He keeps his stethescope in his pocket.

He is a primo candidate for Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I often tease him that homeless people dress better.
He'd be happy to wear scrubs everyday for the rest of his life.

Re: So, what does the dawkter wear?

In residency DH wore scrubs every day, his stethoscope was usually shoved in his messenger bag. When he just started the new job, he felt the need to dress up to his title and wore button down shirts or polo shirts with khakis but soon realized that nobody cares or sees him before he changes into scrubs. Now he wears jeans and t-shirt or sweater (depending on the season) and scrubs on his call days. Once in a while if he has a meeting right after the shift, he'll go in wearing shirt and pants.

Scrubs and clogs. He tried to wear his white coat as an actual coat the other day and I had to remind him that it would not cut in in 30 degree weather. He tends to be on the metro side and loves it when he's at the pain clinic when he can wear his button down shirts and ties.

If he's on call he wears scrubs and crocs. If he isn't on call, he wears slacks, button up shirt and tie and dress shoes.
