    You have a real advantage because you went on the interview trail, not only because you got to visit the different cities but because I assume you saw your SO soon after each interview to get his honest impressions. Lucky you!
    I had not visited any of the cities that DH interviewed at and in the end I really didnt have much say in the rank list, although we spent many hours discussing all the pros and cons of each program/city because I had not been anywhere I didnt feel like I had a valid opinion.
    All my research into different cities was worthless in the end because his first choice program (where he matched) really stood out from the others and was by far his favourite, even though it was the least practical in terms of cost of living, having to do a separate intern year in another city, etc. He would have been happy to match at any that he ranked if this program didnt want him, but he said if he put this one lower down on the list and matched somewhere else, he would have always wondered.....
