And this coming from NYC gal! Isn't it funny how city noise (sirens, horns, etc.) is easier to deal with than loud neighbors?
I have spent my entire life in apartments but have never hated being in one as much as I do now. This is also our first experience with a new construction. Older homes have their issues but sound insulation isn't one of them.

Sorry I don't have any first hand info. I did want to add that I have a family friend that is a real estate agent and has worked with residents in the past. She has already told me that when the time comes (Next Year! Yay!) to start the search for a home/housing ASAP. She works in an area where good housing does sell quick. She suggested we get to the new city (whatever it my be) and find something before all the other residents show up also looking for similar housing (price and location wise).

All of our medical moved have played out where we rented for a year before buying. It worked out pretty well.
